Glossary

address

Where an instance answers. You choose it when you activate a plan, and you cannot change it afterwards. See Concepts.

administrator password

The password of the administrator account inside a product that the Portal installed. The Portal shows it once and then erases it. See The administrator password.

billing period

The time that one payment buys: a month or a year. Stripe charges the card at the end of each one.

checkout

The Stripe screens that take the card and the payment. The Portal sends you there when you activate a paid plan.

instance

One running copy of a plan, on a machine of its own, at an address of its own. See Concepts.

invoice

The document for one charge. Stripe issues it, and Billing lists it. See Billing.

one-time code

A code that the Portal sends to the e-mail address of an account. It works in place of a password, once. The sign-in screen calls it an OTP.

plan

What the Portal offers: a product, a price, and the machine to run it on. The Products screen lists the plans under your instances.

region

Where the machine of an instance stands: Europe or the United States. You choose it at activation, and it cannot be changed.

shared machine

A machine that carries several customers, each with an account of their own. You sign in as yourself, and you cannot restart the machine or update the product.

state

The one word that says what the Portal is doing with an instance. See States.

Stripe

The company that takes the payments. It holds the cards and the invoices. The Portal does not store a card number.

subscription

The payment that keeps one instance running. Cancel it to stop the next charge. See End an instance.

update

The installation of the current release of a product on a machine that already runs. See Update to latest.
